Speaker: Irving Neil Kwok
- As a genre, dance photography is still relatively niche in Asia with most work centered on performance and commercial photography.
However, inspired by the creative work of many dance photography projects abroad, Irving started dedicating his time and passion towards this genre, slowly evolving his vision and work into a personal project that marries the aesthetics of dance with his love for travel, and the imagery one would normally associate with it such as beautiful landscapes, stunning architecture and interesting street scenes.
- In this talk, Irving will share some of his favorite dance images, the technical and artistic challenges he has had to face as well as the process he goes through to prepare for and execute a dance photoshoot.
- He hopes that his photography will raise awareness and appreciation for both the art of dance and the amazing dancers who work so hard to perfect their craft.
- Irving’s project, which is now in its 8th year, has seen him work with dancers in over 20 countries to date. Prior to specializing in dance photography, Irving spent a few years freelancing as a portrait and wedding photographer.
