Margaret Salisbury

Her signature and lucky symbol of the Dragon, with which she signs all her prints, resulted in her nick-name: - “The Welsh dragon”.

She first took up photography 35 years ago originally to take images of her own children. Her first passion was for landscape photography particularly the landscape of North Wales which she consider to be beautiful, particularly the slate landscapes where quarrying was abandoned many years ago but the slag heaps and ruined buildings of the mining industry are still to be seen on the hillsides.

She joined a camera club after completing a course on photography. A few years later she started teaching the night class she had attended and continued doing so for 23 years.

Over the years she developed an interest in photographing people in their own environment, taking pictures of Gypsies at a traditional Gypsy fair on several occasions, and whenever the opportunities arose, photographing people in many parts of the world. An invitation to a Wedding in Ghana resulted in a wonderful chance to photograph Village people in their everyday lives, including taking pictures at a funeral. It was with these images she gained a Fellowship with the Irish Photographic Federation to add to the two Fellowship achieved with the Royal Photographic Society in 1979 with landscape photography. She was also awarded my Master Artist of FIAP for these images and this I consider my greatest achievement. She particularly enjoyed photographing the charming Ghanaian children.

She is a Member of the London Salon of Photography which she consider a great honour, particularly being the only woman to hold the position of Chairman in the hundred history of the Salon.

She enjoy helping people to gain distinctions or improve their photography to the level they aim for. During 20 years on the Licentiateship Panel of the Royal Photographic Society, as Member, Chairman and Team Leader She believed to have, personally, helped over a thousand people gain their LRPS.

She as the Chairman of the DPS (Disabled Photographers Society) Distinctions panel assessing Licentiate Associate and Fellowship of that Society. She is also on the Assessment Panel for the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) in the sections Travel, Landscape, Pictorial, Artistic, Digital, and Nature and take active part in helping people on their Mentoring Service. Judging competitions, Open and International exhibitions, distinctions, etc. is something she really enjoy as it enables me to see images, of different styles and subjects, from all over the world.

The most enjoyable part of photography, for her, is meeting photographers and making friends and seeing the world through the eyes of a camera.

Teng Wei

Teng Wei dabbled in a variety of artistic endeavors before finding his niche as a photographer. His unique vision caught the attention of Asian Geographic in 2002 and since then he has gone behind the lens for a myriad of publications including Asian Media Journal, Let’s Travel, Jalan-Jalan, HOMME and Jasmine as well as undertaking breakthrough editorials for clients such as Canon Lens Catalogue 2009 & 2010 and Air Asia 3 Sixty in-flight magazine.

From bucolic shoots of lush landscapes in remote villages to the richly emotive tapestries of architecture across the urban hubs of Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Seoul and Beijing, Teng Wei has forged a distinctive approach that has made him the lifestyle photographer of choice across the region. His inventive spirit seems best released in experiential primer works where he captures the light and life of the natural world he holds so dear.

Presently liaison officer of FIAP, his work has extended to destination weddings, travels, gourmet food, sports, interior design and other commercial projects.

24 JANUARY 2011, MONDAY
(Landscape/Architectural Photography Workshop)

His background in Travel photography assignments for editorial brought him to place he could not have imagine. Using Canon DSLR for wide-angle shots and telephoto images.

He is able to work quickly, and the speed and mobility of DSLR allowed him to capture whatever decisive moment presented itself.

However, on commercial assignments his decisive moments require more planning, composing and often time electrical engineering. The tilt and shift lenses are more cumbersome with multiple focus and perspective controls that slow a photographer’s response to quick changes, which may require tripod moment, lens orientation, focus and re-focus.

Mentored by the World famous wedding photographer Jerry Ghionis and Yervant, he was able to make an in-road into the Wedding Industry with his strong background in studio fashion and food photography for commercial clients.

Your client wedding is one the most important day in their life, after all the planning to ensure that it is perfect. Suddenly it's over and all that's left is memories, which you’re responsible. That's why it's so important to be professional in your field, capture the magical moments of the wedding so they can relive them over and over.
