Intermediate Practical Photography

 

The course objective is for photographers who are keen to improve their photography skills further in methods, techniques and better understanding in the Photography fundamentals.


Course Syllabus

Module 1: Better photography  with advanced handling and controlling

The approach to achieve better photography
-          The elements in a good photograph. Advanced handling and understanding your DSLR
-          Advanced handling technique in different situations.
-          Further understanding the type of files and format used,
-          White  Balance (WB), ISO, Focal Length and Histogram. Advanced control of exposure and focusing
-          Better control with AE Lock / AF Lock in P.S.A.M modes.
-          Built in exposure meter vs hand held meter. Understanding the characteristic of your lenses
-          Zoom lenses vs fixed lenses.
-          Lenses used for  specific purpose and function. Understanding Hyper Focal Distant and Depth of Field (DOF)
-          Using hyper focal distant to achieve maximum DOF.
-          Using DOF preview button.

Module 2: Outdoor Practical Session (Botanical Garden) Weekend 8:30 am to 11am
-          Controlling of shutter speed to achieve different effect on with moving subjects
-          Better understanding on the effects created by different lenses
-          Using Hyper focal to maximise  DOF

Module 3: Outdoor Practical Session (Marina Bay) 5:30pm to 8:30 pm
-          Using DOF control to create blur bokeh for model’s background
-          Using zoom lens to create special effects
-          Understanding the concept of Fill in with your Flashlight
-          How to create catch light, back light and side lighting effect

Module 4:

- Photo critique session

Pre-requisites : Participants needs to have some knowledge on the basic of photography, to own a DSLR, tripod and other camera accessories i.e Flashlight.Filter.etc and are required to bring them to class on the 1st lesson.

Assessment
Upon completion of the course, students are required to submit 6 pcs. of 8R/S8R prints for assessment. The instructor shall brief the participants on the submission.A course certificate will be awarded for successful submission.

Duration           : 3 weeks (2 hours per session)
Time                : 7:30pm to 9:30pm weekdays (except outings)

Fees                 : $200 (Member) $300 (Non-Member)

*Course fees do not include any model, transport and miscellaneous costs that will be incurred during outings and practical sessions (where applicable). These will be made known to participants prior to the event, where possible, and shall be borne by the participants.

  • Mandarin and special timeslot courses subject to instructor availablity and minimum participation take-up rate. Participation take-up rates vary from course to course.
