An Eye for Creativity Workshop

Most of us know how to take pictures, but only a handful make good pictures. The difference between taking and making pictures is creativity.

This workshop shows you how to take control of mindset creatively.

With the aid of stunning slides and demonstration of video to stimulate your imagination and curiosity, the workshop will also be equipped with many hands-on exercises through photo outings, home assignments, competition (amongst the participants) and photo clinic.

Course Syllabus

Module  1:

What is Creativity? / Does it really matter in using the right photographic equipment? / Digital.
The Software and Computer Know-how / Digital Images – Manipulation and Creativity
Participants are required to submit two creative photos taken by them on Day 2 of the workshop.

Module  2:

The Process and the Art of Seeing / How to visualise? / What is photo design? / Clinic on creative photos submitted by students / How to get ideas?
Student to prepare photos for photo competition submission on last day of workshop.

Module  3:

(1 outing) Outdoor Practical Session (street scene)

Module  4:

Photo Clinic / Evaluation & commentary of photos taken at Outing 1 by the participants / Interactive analyses of sample photos

Module  5:

(1 outing) Outdoor Practical Session (nature, landscape or buildings)

Module 6:

Photo Clinic / Evaluation & commentary of photos taken at Outing 2 by the participants / submission of photo for competition and judging


Pre-requisites: Participents need to have basic knowledge of photography (i.e. attended the Basic Photography course).

Time                : 7.30pm to 9.30pm weekdays (except outings)

  • Mandarin and special timeslot courses subject to instructor availablity and minimum participation take-up rate. Participation take-up rates vary from course to course.
  • Should there be a change in commencement date, you shall be informed as soon as possible via phone or email.
    Course fees, once paid, are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend due to extenuating circumstances, you may request for a reschedule to a later course, if available.
  • Course fees do not include any model, transport and miscellaneous costs to be incurred during outings and practical sessions (where applicable). These will be made known to participants prior to the event, where possible, and shall be borne by the participants.
  • All courses are conducted at The Photographic Society of Singapore located at Selegie Arts Centre (yellow building opposite PoMo), 30 Selegie Road, Singapore 188351.
  • Participant intending to purchase photographic equipment for any course/s are advised to seek instructor recommendations during the first lesson.
