"Electronic Imaging In the new Millennium"
Digital Imaging Exhibition & Seminar
The Photographic Society of Singapore presented an Exhibition and two
Seminars in Digital Imaging from 4 to 18 August, 2000. This event has won the
support from National Arts Council, and sponsorship from Mitsubishi Electric
Asia Pte Ltd, Jebsen & Jessen Marketing (S) Pte Ltd and CD Alchemy Pte
Ltd.
The new millennium is believed to be a digital world even for photography. We
hope to promote the awareness of the latest technology in Digital Photography to
the public through this project.
The seminars will talk about new way to capture more creative picture and
develop spectaculars prints through the technology such as through Digital
Cameras, scanning of images into Kodak Photo CD as well as High Resolution LED
printing which made the best inkjet printout uncomparable to it.
The exhibition will be launched by Mr. David Tay Poey Cher JP, PBM on Friday,
4th Aug 2000, 7.30pm at the Selegie Arts Centre. The exhibition will consist of
prints done by the LED printer, with images taken by Digital cameras and also
from the Kodak Photo CDs.
The Seminar on Electronic Image in English will commence on Saturday, 5th Aug
2000, 3pm to 5.30pm and as for the Seminar in Mandarin will commence on 12th Aug
00, 3pm to 5.30pm.
The event will be taking place at The Photographic Society of Singapore, Loke
Wan Tho Gallery, Selegie Arts Centre (30 Selegie Road, opposite Paradiz Centre ,
(above MR Bean Café). The exhibition will be held from 4th to 18th Aug 2000 at
the Loke Wan Tho Gallery.

PSS has moved to
Selegie
Under the NAC Arts Housing Scheme, PSS had managed the Selegie Arts
Centre for the pass 5 years. We have decided to concentrate all our activities
and operations in Selegie Arts Centre and we promised to have many new ideas,
programs and exhibitions.


"The Earth in 2000"
Closing Date: 31st Dec 2000 (Singapore)
Joining with thousands of photographers from FIAP and record images for
future generations, to learn about how we lived in year 2000.
Inconjuction with International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP) PSS is
organising this competition to collect the Singapore Images taken in year 2000.
FIAP is a partner of UNESCO for the International year for the Culture of
Peace.
A total of 50 prints will be selected to represent Singapore to the
International Jury in Europe. There will be 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze FIAP
Medals as will as 12 FIAP Honorable mentions to be awarded to the best works. A
book will be published in summer of 2001.
